The three mechanisms of action, information, energy and active ingredients, are developed and combined through the four stages of their transformation at Ceres. The resulting remedy thus has the potential to connect with human beings at multiple levels.
New insights obtained in the 1980s lay the groundwork
Ceres remedies are based on work performed in the 1980s by Dr. Roger Kalbermatten, then a young chemist. At the time, Dr. Kalbermatten was the director of the research and development department of a pharmaceutical manufacturer of plant-based medicinal products. He found that the continual rise in dosage levels of plant-based medicinal products over the course of the 20th century was related to the increasing industrialisation of their processing. Kalbermatten was able to demonstrate that the apparent drop in efficacy in this period was not due to a decrease in the efficacy of material mechanisms of action. This led him to suspect that the constant increase in dosage quantities must be due to a decrease in the efficacy of immaterial mechanisms of action.
Kalbermatten’s work led him to recognise that the efficacy of mother tinctures was based on both immaterial and material mechanisms of action. This insight became seminal for the development of an optimized manufacturing method that considered both material and immaterial mechanisms of action. In subsequent studies, it emerged that the immaterial mechanisms of action fall into two categories, meaning that we can actually speak of a total of three mechanisms of action: active ingredients, energy and information.
The information mechanism of action
Information is a mental mechanism capable of having an effect. Information is usually stored and transmitted through a specific structure. For instance, the mental meaning of the concept “tree” can be conveyed by saying the English word “tree” or the same word in some other language. In this case, information is encoded in the structure of the sound waves. The spoken work could also be stored on electronic media, in which case the information would be encoded in the microstructure of the media in question. The same concept could also be conveyed through letters printed on paper or chiselled into stone; whatever the case, the mental content is encoded, or encrypted. Thus, structures and forms become the vehicles of a message, of meaning.
Water is the element of life, for water is the substance that dissolves all of the substances essential to life and transports them to our cells and vessels. Although scientists are still unable to point to direct evidence of the existence of information structures in blood, cellular water or plant or sap, we believe, based on the law of analogy, that biological fluids are both information storage media and information transfer media. The information can trigger specific biological reactions – just as molecules of active ingredients can. Information is the mechanism of action in homoeopathic dilutions and, based on experience with homoeopathy, we can assume that the information works in a more subtle way than active ingredients do, although the mechanism of action of this effect has not yet been recognised by scientists.
Information is primarily rendered dynamic through the grinding process in the Ceres mortar grinder and is transferred to the medicinal products
The energy mechanism of action
In addition to forms of energy that can be physically measured, like electricity, heat, light, sound and movement, there are forms of energy that can move our minds and spirits, i.e. evoking sensations and emotions. The radiance of colours, the effect of fragrances and flavours or the harmony of proportions number among these latter forms. This is why all of the fragrances and flavours of medicinal plants have an effect conducive to healing, regardless of the fact that scientists have not yet found evidence for this in all cases.
The maturation process is primarily responsible for ensuring that the energy acquires a harmonious fullness and is thereby amplified.
The material mechanism of action
Every medical plant contains numerous active ingredients that work together in harmony, like a well rehearsed orchestra. The overall effect is never produced by one single substance acting on its own. Some active ingredients are sensitive and can break down when exposed to heat or oxidation. Extensive scientific research has already been conducted on the chemical and pharmacological properties of the active ingredients.
The hand chopping and extraction with the Ceres mortar grinder is primarily responsible for the preservation of the plants’ active ingredients.
Please use low dosages
Ceres medicinal products are intended for ingestion in very low doses. Seek medical advice when needed.
Linger over the flavour for a few moments
Pay attention as your nose and palate take in the flavour of the remedy. The aroma is of great significance and will augment the life-enhancing and harmonizing effect. To optimize efficacy, add the drops to a small amount of water, and hold them in the mouth for a while. Drops can also be administered directly on the tongue and insalivated however. This latter method is recommended above all in acute cases.
Sense the essence of the medicine
Enter into an internal dialogue with the essence of the medicinal plant in your own very personal fashion. Follow your own internal sense of what is best in determining the frequency and duration of use. This sense is the language of the body; it will tell you whether or not you have a need for the remedy. Enjoy taking the drops; taste them, as you would a finely prepared dish.
Pay attention to mental, spiritual and bodily signals
Observe yourself: aggravation of symptoms or the appearance of new symptoms could be an indication that the dosage is too high. In this case, suspend the therapy for a few days and then restart at a lower dosage. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist.
Minimum period between doses when using more than one mother tincture
If you use more than one Ceres remedy in parallel, wait for no less than 15 minutes between doses. Be aware of and savour taking in and absorbing the healing impulses.
Obtain the requisite information
Past experience has shown that Ceres medicinal products can be combined with remedies of conventional medicine, homoeopathy and complementary medicine without ill effect. However, it is important to seek medical advice when suffering from a disease or allergies or if you are taking other medicinal products, even those you have purchased on your own.
Ceres remedies are homoeopathic medicinal products. In accordance with regulatory requirements, their labels give the Latin name of the plant and the German product name. They do not, as a rule, indicate the area of use. The symbol Ø after the name of the plant indicates that the remedy is a mother tincture.
In Switzerland, the Ceres product range currently includes 53 mother tinctures, 12 complex remedies and 25 dilutions made from 14 different medicinal plants. The 20 ml bottles are available at chemist’s shops and drug stores.
In Switzerland, Ceres medicinal products are available at any chemist’s shop or drug store. We have a therapist search tool that can help you find therapists experienced in the use of Ceres preparations.
