What does the company name Ceres stand for?
Ceres is the name of the Roman goddess of plant growth.
In Greek mythology, the goddess of plant growth is called Demeter.
What does the symbol Ø stand for?
The symbol „Ø“ after the name of the plant indicates that the remedy is a „mother tincture“. All our products show the latin name and the symbol „Ø“.
Why is the term “homöopathische Arzneimittel” (homoeopathic medicine) printed on the product labels?
The definition of homoeopathic medicine is not based on their active ingredients content, but rather on the circumstance of their being produced in accordance with Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia (HAB) requirements. In the case of homoeopathic dilutions, the concentration of active ingredients is so low as to render their analysis superfluous. Mechanisms of action other than those of the active ingredients are acknowledged for homoeopathic medicinal products (see Medicinal products -> 3 mechanisms of action -> The information mechanism of action). Mother tinctures are produced in accordance with the HAB, and they are source materials for the production of homoeopathic dilutions. For that reason, they fall under the category of homoeopathic medicinal products as defined by the laws governing medicinal products, despite the fact that they are not diluted. They are labelled as "homeopathic medicine".
Can I take several mother tinctures at the same time?
Yes, but ... not in the same glass, do not mix tinctures.
For the nature of the plant to be able to develop, please note the following:
1. take in a little water,
2. take on an empty stomach, the oral mucosa is supposed to be free of any other aromas,
3. wait a quarter of an hour before taking the next tincture,
4. take no more than three different tinctures a day and
5. take the last tincture a quarter of an hour before eating.
Can my symptoms initially become worse?
Yes, but this condition should disappear after three days at the latest. Keep to the dosages specified by the professional person advising you. Always start with a very low dosage (1 drop three times a day) and increase slowly.
Is the alcohol not a problem for patients?
Three drops of mother tincture contain less alcohol than a ripe banana or a glass of orange juice, so the amount is completely harmless.
Why do most Ceres products now have outer packaging?
The outer packaging makes it possible to comply with the steadily growing requirements regarding the proper labelling of medicinal products since the folding box offers more space for text than the label alone. In addition, the box allows an insert to be added. It also considerably simplifies handling in the relevant retail segment with respect to logistics and shelving. Moreover, the outer packaging provides superior product protection from UV radiation and laser scanners.
Since the changeover for all mother tinctures and complex remedies is being phased in gradually (dilutions will continue to be distributed without outer packaging), products both with and without the folding box may be stocked on shelves for a certain period of time.
Why don’t the packages of Ceres products provide any information about dosage and use?
Homoeopathic medicinal products without indications are intended for use in individual therapy, in the context of which indication and dosage are recommended by a specialist. This is why no dosage or recommended use is printed on the package as rule.
Ceres Taraxacum comp. Liver and Gallbladder Drops is the only one of our medicinal products for which Swissmedic approval with indication has been requested and issued thus far.
Products that include instructions on dosage: Absinthium Ø, Hypericum Ø, Viscum Ø, Ceres Hypericum comp., Ceres Melissa comp., Ceres Viscum comp., Ceres Taraxacum comp. Liver and Gallbladder Drops.
Most Ceres products don't provide a package insert. Why?
Package inserts increase the ecological and logistical efforts enourmously. For this reason we only include product inserts for those products that require further information on the basis of their approval (dosage, indication).
Products that require further information due to their approval, enclose a package insert.
When will I feel better?
Your symptoms should become better after two weeks.
How long can I keep the products?
The bottles specify a period of approx. 5 years before the expiry date. However, if stored in a dark place and at room temperature, our products will keep even longer. It depends on whether the bottle has been opened and how much air is already inside. Bottles that are half-empty should not be kept for many years because the oxygen causes decomposition products.

Can Ceres products be administered like Bach flowers?
No. Bach flower essences contain no active ingredients and are therefore effective purely at a mental level.
Ceres products contain active ingredients that have an organotropic effect. In other words, a remedy for the kidneys (Solidago, Urtica, Equisetum etc.) does in fact stimulate improved kidney activity. Ceres products should not be administered based merely on mental analogy.
How do I dose the drops correctly?
Hold the bottle over the glass at an approximate 45 degree angle and count out the drops.
